After a week of orientation in St. Louis, me and 5 colleagues flew to Cluj. This is in the region of Romania called Transylvania. Upon arrival, we learned we didn’t have 5 of our bags and that we didn’t have keys to our new place. Once everything was sorted out, we dropped our stuff off and headed straight to Electric Castle. Saw Bring Me the Horizon and Le Maitre.
We went to work during the week for orientation, meeting lots of leadership and learning about each of our business units and new jobs. Also, there are dogs on campus.My boss technically is based in Ede, Netherlands. I have other people to report to in Cluj though. I did some orders/ quotes training with a new colleague from Spain. We spoke mostly in Spanish, so this is great for keeping that up while I’m away from the states. In addition to learning about work stuff, I am also picking up Romanian pretty fast. I’m trying my best. At least when I talk to people here they don’t make me say ” I am short and fat” over and over again, like the Duolingo owl.
We had a tour of Cluj and went to the top of the hill (by Belvedere) and ate a berry off a tree. We went for gelato with our tourguide and her husband. Dinner with bosses the following day at Barraca, where they have cheese that looks like pebbles. Friday, we went out to a couple bars, including the Soviet, which has a great communist theme.
